Throughout 2024, Pet Star Recycling processed approximately 10,000 tonnes of post-consumer PET bottles sourced from RetuRO, representing 25% of all PET packaging collected through the Deposit-Return System.
The Slobozia facility, established in 2021 following an initial investment of €30 million, has a processing capacity of approximately 30,000 tonnes of post-consumer PET waste per year.
Pet Star Recycling allocated €15 million in investments for 2024–2025 to increase processing capacity beyond 50,000 tonnes annually. The expansion is projected to generate approximately 80 new green jobs.
Mirela Drăgoi, CEO & Co-Founder, stated that the investments will “transform Romania into a regional hub for high-quality PET recycling, reducing dependence on virgin plastics.”
