Policy statement and commitment of the Director General of SC PET STAR SA regarding the Integrated Management System for Quality, Environment, Sustainability, Occupational Health and Safety, Safety of materials for food packaging

SC PET STAR SA wants to be a benchmark in the production of packaging for the food industry, and in this sense, the need of society to recycle bottles after use arose, so we respond positively to this requirement and transform them into raw material for a new production of plastic packaging for the food industry. The permanent development of the organization, the production of good quality products and services in a clean environment, meeting the requirements of customers and other stakeholders, pollution prevention, employee health and safety, adapting the activity to current trends in the national and international situation are the main objectives of the policy in the field of quality, environment, sustainability, safety of food packaging materials and health and safety at work.

By continuously improving technological processes, SC PET STAR SA is determined to maintain and permanently improve the relationship of trust with suppliers, customers and other stakeholders in the performance and prestige acquired in the field of recycled flakes and granules production as well as PET preform production.

Management declares its commitment to sustainable practices, establishing a Sustainability Strategy, covering environmental, social and economic. This includes commitments to the responsible use and reuse of resources, support for recycling and the re-introduction of recycled material into the circular economy, reducing the carbon footprint, reducing energy and gas consumption, energy efficiency, by adopting technologies and practices that reduce energy consumption, by using a renewable energy resource.

The company's top management considers the quality of the products offered, compliance with environmental regulations, occupational health and safety, and the safety of food packaging materials as defining elements for business sustainability.

We promote the training and involvement of all our employees, making them aware of the importance of their individual activities in contributing to the food safety of our products.

We work as a team and offer all customers safe and quality products, obtained by qualified personnel, respecting ethical principles at all stages of our activity.

To achieve this goal, the management of SC PET STAR SA has decided to maintain and continuously improve an Integrated Management System for quality - environment - occupational health and safety - safety of materials for food packaging, in accordance with the provisions of the standards SR EN ISO 9001:2015, SR EN ISO 14001:2015, SR EN ISO 45001: 2023, SR EN ISO 22000:2019 and FSSC 22000-current version, for the field of activity: Recovery of sorted recyclable PET materials. Production of rPET flakes and granules and Manufacturing of plastic packaging items (Production of PET preforms).

In order to meet the requirements and expectations of customers and other stakeholders, the company's general objectives in the fields of quality, environment, occupational health and safety and the safety of food packaging materials consist of:

  • Maintaining and continuously improving an Integrated Management System at the company level;
  • Increasing customer satisfaction through an optimal approach to their requests, meeting deadlines and increasing trust in our products;
  • Capturing new market segments and increasing turnover and fully integrating SMI requirements into business processes;
  • Promoting technical solutions and efficient and non-polluting technologies in order to conserve natural resources;
  • Increasing the quality level of manufactured products and ensuring their food safety;
  • Improving organizational culture regarding the safety of food packaging materials;
  • The personnel involved in the manufacturing processes benefit from periodic training regarding the decisive role they play in achieving the strategy, policy and objectives of the Integrated Management System;
  • Fulfilling compliance obligations applicable to product quality, environmental protection and occupational health and safety;
  • Environmental protection, reduction of CO2 emissions, reduction of energy consumption, efficient waste management and increasing the recycling rate of PET products by using recycled PET in the production process;
  • Ensuring safe and healthy working conditions to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses, appropriate to the purpose, size and context of the organization, as well as the specific nature of its OH&S risks and opportunities;
  • Eliminating hazards and reducing occupational health and safety risks;
  • Applying operative intervention measures to prevent and/or limit negative effects on the environment, health and safety at work in the event of an incident, accident, breakdown, disaster, climate change;
  • Developing communication methods in the organization, which ensure employee consultation and involvement for the development of the Integrated Management System and for the generalization of the mentality of continuous improvement of the way of working;
  • Creating new dimensions in the relationship with suppliers, by requesting and encouraging them to increase the quality, ecological and safety level of the products offered;
  • Reducing CO2 emissions, reducing energy consumption, efficiently managing waste and increasing the recycling rate of PET products by using recycled PET in the production process.

These general objectives are translated into specific objectives at the relevant functions and levels within the company, in order to facilitate their tracking and evaluation processes.

As General Manager of SC PET STAR SA, I express my commitment to take concrete action and to ensure the necessary resources to:

  • Developing, implementing and continuously improving the performance of the Integrated Management System through:
    • communicating within the company the importance of meeting customer requirements, as well as legal and regulatory requirements;
    • ensuring that objectives and targets are set to increase the performance of the Integrated Management System;
    • ensuring that the policy is in line with both regulatory requirements and the requirements of our customers;
    • leading the analyses carried out by management;
    • ensuring the human and material resources necessary for the operation and development of the Integrated Management System;
  • Preventing pollution, reducing CO2 emissions, reducing energy consumption, efficiently managing waste and increasing the recycling rate of PET products by using recycled PET in the production process;
  • Preventing work-related injuries and illnesses by providing jobs and safe and healthy activities;
  • Compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, as well as customer requirements;
  • Supporting other relevant managerial roles in demonstrating leadership, in their areas of responsibility and development, by promoting within the organization a culture that ensures that the Integrated Management System - quality, environment, occupational health and safety, safety of food packaging materials - achieves the intended results;
  • Establishing and implementing the process of consultation, participation and involvement of employees, supporting the establishment and functioning of the occupational health and safety committee;
  • Protecting employees from retaliation when they report incidents, hazards, risks and opportunities;
  • Regularly conducting and evaluating interfaces with employees, authorities and the community, through which we communicate the policy, objectives and performance of our activities.

The policy and objectives are brought to the attention of all personnel working for or on behalf of the company who have a duty to act directly to implement them. This policy is available to relevant stakeholders.

The application of this policy in the fields of Quality, Environment, Sustainability, Occupational Health and Safety, Safety of materials for food packaging is a priority for the top management of the company. SC PET STAR SA, which provides the resources necessary for its implementation, and the policy is periodically reviewed to ensure its continued adequacy.
