"Construction began last autumn and we are striving to start operations by the end of this year. We are now doing a vertical integration. The investment will amount to €20 million. It was not easy to obtain financing. We tried for two years to secure funding for this project. Although it is a project beneficial to the environment, it was rejected many times," said Mirela Drăgoi, Executive President of Pet Star Holding.
"The new factory will be able to process one billion bottles or 20,000 tonnes annually. The new factory will also be built in Slobozia. 130 new jobs will be created."
At market level, there are approximately 2.3 billion bottles annually. "As raw material, those discarded, unrecycled PET bottles are worth €40 million per year. And on top of that, we import virgin materials to produce PET," emphasized the president of Pet Star.
